B. General Awareness:

The questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around them and its application in society. The questions will be designed to test the knowledge of contemporary events and everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions related to India and its neighboring countries, especially questions related to history, culture, geography, economic scenario, general policy and scientific research.


c. Quantitative Aptitude: The questions will be designed to test the candidates ability to use numbers and number comprehension appropriately. The scope of the test will be to calculate the relationship between percentages, integers, decimals, fractions and numbers. Ratio and Proportion, Square Root, Average, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Combination,

Paper-II: English Language and Comprehension: The questions in this component will be designed to test the candidate's comprehension and knowledge of English language and will include spot errors, blank spaces, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/wrong Enter the spelling. based on detection. SSC CGL Eligibility Details: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level Exam eligibility details are given below….


Eligibility Conditions:

Nationality/Citizenship: A candidate must be either:

(a) a citizen of India, or

(b) the subject of Nepal, or

(c) the subject of Bhutan, or

(d) a Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 1st day of January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam. Intend to settle permanently in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

For women - 150 cm.

Selection Process Details: Combined Graduate Level Examination Selection Process will consist of various stages like Written Test, Proficiency/Skill Test and Document Verification.


1. Written Examination: The written examination will be conducted in a two tier process. Tier-I and Tier-II written test will consist of objective type multiple choice questions. The time duration for each test will be of two hours. Tier-I exam will be conducted for 200 marks and Tier-II exam will be conducted for 400 marks (600 marks for Statistical Investigator Grade-II, Assistant Audit Officer, Compiler posts). There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Tier-I. In Tier-II, there will be negative marking of 0.25 marks in Paper-II and 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I and Paper-III. Only those candidates who secure the cut off marks in Tier-I exam as decided by the Commission will be required to appear in Tier-II exam.


I. Tier-I exam is used to screen candidates to appear in Tier-II exam for various papers that will be required specifically for different groups of posts. However, the marks of such screened candidates in Tier-I will be taken into consideration for the final ranking of candidates for proficiency/skill test and document verification and final selection.

The Second Commission shall have the absolute discretion to fix the minimum qualifying marks in each paper in Tier II separately and the aggregate of all the papers separately for each category of candidates.

iii. Only those candidates who qualify in all the papers as well as in aggregate will be eligible to be called for Proficiency/Skill Test and Document Verification.


2. Proficiency/Skill Test:

I. Assistant Section Officer: Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) will be conducted for the post of Assistant Section Officer only.

II Tax Assistant: Data Entry Skill Test will be conducted at the speed of 8000 key depressions per hour only for Tax Assistant.


The skill test will be of qualifying nature.


The Commission will conduct Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for the applicant for the post of Assistants of CSS, which will consist of three modules- Word Processing, Spread Sheet and Slide Creation. CPT will be of qualifying nature.


3. Physical Standards for Various Posts: The Physical Standard Test will be conducted for the posts of Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/ Preventive Officer/ Inspector and Sub-Inspector in CBN) and Sub-Inspector in CBI. The physical measurement (including vision test) for the candidates will be conducted by the respective requisition departments and only those candidates who fulfill the specified physical measurement will be eligible for the respective posts as follows.

The commission will recommend the candidates to the merit list on the basis of aggregate marks obtained by the candidates in the written test and proficiency/skill test (where applicable) and the preference exercised by the candidates in the application form for various posts and thereafter, available vacancies. Wherever applicable at the time of Tier II / Skill Test / Computer Proficiency Test, depending on the number of vacancies.
